    This site is an overview of the ancient religion of Mithraism. Mithraism is the ancient Roman cult of the god Mithras. Roman worship of Mithras began during the early Roman empire, perhaps during the late first century of the Common Era (hereafter CE), and flourished from the second through the fourth centuries CE. The origins of the Roman cult of Mithras remains controversial.

     The evidence for this cult is mostly archaeological, consisting of the remains of Mithra temples, known as Mithraeum, ancient statue, (like the one seen above), and inscriptions found through out the Roman Empire. This Website will outline the facts known about Mithraism. This would include the history of mithra the god, the cult of Mithra, the astrology associated with mithraism, the similarities of Christianity and Mithraism, and the archeology of Mithraism.
